Our Story

Desert North didn’t begin as a business. It began as a way of surviving transition — a way of holding onto identity when life shifts faster than you can keep up. After years in the military and fire service, I found myself in a season where everything familiar had changed. The structure, the mission, the sense of purpose — all of it had to be rebuilt from the ground up.

During that time, I spent my winters in the Arizona desert and my summers in the quiet north of Minnesota. Two places that couldn’t be more different, yet both offered something I desperately needed: space. Space to think. Space to heal. Space to rediscover who I was outside of a uniform or a job title.

In the desert, I found clarity — the kind that only comes from heat, silence, and wide‑open sky. In the north, I found grounding — the kind that comes from cold mornings, long drives, and the steady rhythm of nature. Somewhere between those two worlds, I started creating again. Sketching. Writing. Designing. Not for an audience, not for a business — just to feel human again.

Those early pieces became the foundation of Desert North.

What started as personal expression slowly grew into something bigger: a brand built on resilience, reflection, and the belief that creativity can be a form of recovery. Every print, every devotional, every design carries a piece of that journey — the struggle, the rebuilding, the quiet victories.

Desert North is more than a store. It’s a reminder that you can start over at any age, in any season, from any place. It’s proof that the things that break you can also shape you. And it’s a tribute to the landscapes — both physical and emotional — that helped me find my way back to purpose.

This brand exists because of the people who believe in second chances, in slow growth, in meaningful work, and in the power of art to reconnect us with ourselves.
